American Rapper “Lil Jon” Embarrassed Islam
The American rapper Lil Jon made headlines recently when he revealed a significant change in his life: he embarrassed Islam. The rapper declared his conversion to Islam in front of a sizable crowd, according to the Turkish news website Daily Sabah.
This Friday, Lil Jon made an appearance at King Fahad Mosque, Los Angeles in an online video where he recited the Shahada in front of a large congregation, the Islamic creed, in both Arabic and English.
On Sunday, the rapper thanked his followers in an Instagram post for their “outpouring love and positivity.”
Lil Jon was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1972. His real name is Jonathan H. Smith. The rapper rose to prominence for his pioneering efforts to promote hip-hop in the early 2000s. Jon, highly praised for his hyperactive approach and catchphrases like “Yeah!” and “Okay,” rose to prominence in the early 2000s with singles like “Get Low” and “Turn Down for What.” Lil Jon has released multiple Billboard Hot 100 hit singles, including “Yeah!” which earned him a Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Performance as one of his five nominations.
Many famous people and celebrities have recently come to accept Islam in the past few years. This week, before Lil Jon, well-known activist Shaun King also made headlines across the globe by announcing his conversion to Islam during the holy month of Ramadan.
With more than two billion followers, Islam is currently the second most popular religion in the world after Christianity. The World Population Review predicts that by 2050, Islam will surpass Christianity as the most popular religion worldwide.
